The Fall- Live To Air in Melbourne '82

Recorded on same tour as "In A Hole." This one may not be quite equal the high level of manic energy of "In A Hole," and the recording is a bit drier but it's still really fucking good. A great live recording for some similar, some different reasons. I do like that this one includes more stuff that was to be on "Perverted By Language," one up there on my long list of Fall favorites.

1) I Feel Voxish (sounds like it's still being worked out)
2) Hard Life In Country
3) I'm Into CB
4) Lie Dream Of A Casino Soul
5) Solicitor In Studio
6) Tempo House
7) The Classical
8) Marquis Cha Cha
9) Room To Live
10) Hexen Hour/Strife Knot
11) Deer Park
12) Totally Wired
13) Joker Hysterical Face
14) Hip Priest

The Fall- Live @ The Keystone, Berkeley, California: 10th July 1981

Another great show from the 1981 U.S. tour (nothing here on "A Part Of America Therein, 1981"). I don't like Berkeley, and it seems like such an unlikely place for the Fall to play. I hope a lot of those fuckers were squirming, and they probably were, because the Fall are in very fine form here.
Great set, bass is too quiet, though. Leave it to some dipshit soundman from Berkeley to turn Steve Hanley down.

1) Lie Dream Of A Casino Soul
2) An Older Lover
3) Totally Wired
4) The N.W.R.A.
5) Fit And Working Again
6) Hip Priest
7) New Face In Hell
8) Prole Art Threat
9) Container Drivers
10) No Xmas For John Quays

The Fall- Slippy Floor

1) Slippy Floor (Mark Mix): trimmed, leaner, and a bit more zip than the perfectly fine album version
2) Hot Cake-Part 2: great Slippy Floor extension into "Hot Cake"
3) Strangetown (Live at Camden Crawl): long intro, Mark enters later to big applause into rough and loose live take, yes.

The Fall- C.R.E.E.P. Show Bootleg

Lifted this from the blog, Symphony Of Ghosts (http://symphonyofghosts.blogspot.com/search/label/Fall)
Live in Munich April 4, 1984, sound is a bit quiet, but very good overall, great energetic performance, and check out that set list...
If (when) you enjoy this, I highly recommend the "Live at the Hacienda" DVD which has 4 sets, one around "Perverted By Language," two around "Wonderful and Frightening World," and one around "This Nation's Saving Grace." Plus the omnibus editions of "Wonderful..." and "This Nation..." are totally worth picking up, a must for any rabid Fall fan. There's never enough Fall...

1) Lay Of The Land
2) Ludd Gang
3) Kicker Conspiracy
4) Smile
5) 2x4
6) C.R.E.E.P.
7) Neighborhood Of Infinity
8) Copped It
9) Garden

The Fall- Austerbaejarbio

Live in Iceland, May 06, 1983 on the way back from a U.S. tour around the time of "Perverted By Language."
Great set-list, great performance, good recording, also features the 12+ minute unreleased, "Backdrop."
I can never get enough of the Fall, and it seems each song was never really played the exact same way twice, which makes mixing in live albums more appealing than just listening to the albums over and over (even though I have no problem with that) and bootlegs of this quality are always appreciated.

1) Tempo House
2) The Classical
3) Eat Y'Self Fitter
4) Hexen Definitive
5) I Feel Voxish
6) The Man Whose Head Expanded
7) Garden
8) Kicker Conspiracy
9) Look, Know
10) Backdrop

Battle of the Singles 1

Why pick favorites?
2 great 2 song 45s.
These two are way up on my list of favorite singles (if forced to choose), for both A & B sides, each for different reasons.
Here are:
The Fall- Rowche Rumble/In My Area
Vs.
The Legendary Stardust Cowboy- I Took A Trip In A Gemini Spaceship/Down In The Wrecking Yard

The Fall- It's The New Thing!/Various Times 7"

From when the Fall sounded almost like a punk group (but not "punk"), on the A side at least...a great shit-take on most everyone.
B-side is a step forward (ha) from "Repetition," becoming darker and more atmospheric.
Seems like this single is a bit overlooked, don't know why. Just look at their release list for their first few years and the rate of growth (and at that pace) is amazing, with a great sense of humor that way too many people completely miss.

The Fall- Peel Session: November 28, 1978

Recorded a few months before the release of "Live at the Witch Trials," this is a great session from the early band (collaborative-ish?). "Put Away," later to appear on "Dragnet," sounds like it's still being worked out where the only other track not to end up on their debut album ("Mess Of My") is probably my favorite here, "oh give me another drink, you're as strong as your weakest link."
One of Peel's favorite bands, The Mighty Fall, always different, always the same.

Random Summer Saturday Beer n' 7" Bo-nanza!

1) The Fall- Look, Know
2) The Fall- I'm Into C.B.
An incredible single from The Fall's output on the Kamera label, possibly their strongest period. Again, I'm more drawn to the B-Side, at no fault of the A-Side.

3) Teengenerate- Out Of Sight
4) Teengenerate- Pushin Me Around
Maybe not their strongest release, but still good.

5) ? & the Mysterians- I Need Somebody
6) ? & the Mysterians- 8 Teen
Great Latino Stomp n' Pomp pre-punk.

7) Blue Cheer- Summertime Blues
8) Blue Cheer- Out Of Focus
Why not follow that up with some classic Stoner Rock?

9) George Jones- Ya Ba Da Ba Do! (So Are You)
Is there any going wrong with a song about getting drunk by yourself from an Elvis shaped whiskey bottle, poured into a Fred Flintstone jar, and the resulting conversation with Elvis and Fred? Hell no!
(The same song is on both sides of the record)

10) Country Teasers- Anytime, Cowboy
11) Country Teasers- No. 1 Man

Taken from the cassette that got them a deal with Crypt (was tacked onto the "Pastoral, Not Rustic..." CD...I think it stands better on its own than as bonus tracks) and possibly more lo-fi than the Alan Country Davidson tapes from the same time. Time for another beer?

12) The Dukes Of Dixieland- Quand Mo T'est Petite (When I Was a Child)
Why do all 4 tracks when all those better bands only get 2? The rest of the E.P. is good, but this track by far stands out as the best.

Country Teasers- "Pinball Machine" *PLUS*

This is a C.T. (more like the Rebel) track from a comp. put out by Multiball Magazine. I've never heard the rest of the comp., but this track is more than strong enough to stand on its own. In the same vein as "Secret Weapon Revealed at Last," "Exciting New Venue...," etc. AKA drunken country swagger with bleeping electronics and lo fi drum machine shuffle. Result: a song I can listen to for hours on end (and if you think I'm exaggerating...).
Pure fucking genius.

3 more versions by The Fall, Lonnie Irving, and Merle Kilgore. So surprising that Wallers' version most resembles the Fall's. Who woulda thunk it?
