Trumans Water- Peel Sessions

This was taken from 3 sessions, two from '93 and one from '94.  Unfortunately (or do I mean thankfully?) Trumans Water probably won't be part of the recent "I love everything 90's" trend (20 year pop-culture recycle program needs to be shut down, anyway) because they are probably just as challenging today as they were then (meant as a complement).
Somewhere I saw someone compare them to "early Pavement meets early Boredoms, but not as spazzy."  There's a lot of room to go wrong there, but it's still pretty accurate, but I like these guys better than Pavement or Boredoms.  I do hear post-punk and kraut rock influences, but they're still of their own time.  I would think they would have a lot of appeal to Thinking Fellers Union Local 282 and Sun City Girls fans.  Definitely not a band to play by any rules, thankfully.

The Fall- Peel Session: November 28, 1978

Recorded a few months before the release of "Live at the Witch Trials," this is a great session from the early band (collaborative-ish?). "Put Away," later to appear on "Dragnet," sounds like it's still being worked out where the only other track not to end up on their debut album ("Mess Of My") is probably my favorite here, "oh give me another drink, you're as strong as your weakest link."
One of Peel's favorite bands, The Mighty Fall, always different, always the same.

Thinking Fellers Union Local 282- Peel Sessions 02-13-94

Too busy drooling to write. The Peel treatment (raw live energy) fits the Fellers to a T. One of the best.
Just listen.

1) Star Trek
2) More Glee
3) 1" Tall
4) Father

This Heat- Made Available: John Peel Sessions

This is the band the term "before their time" should be coined for. Shit.
Any band since then who has tried to sound like this has pretty much just pathetically fallen flat on their faces.
This is made up of more experimental tracks, occasionally weaving in and out of more structured "songs." If the opener doesn't win you over...also keep in mind this was recorded live in studio.
If you are new to This Heat, maybe try their self titled debut or "Deceipt" first. Or start here, this is great stuff-not too pretentious British experimental progressive-ish post-punk.

Eno & The Winkies- Peel Session 1974

After the release of "Here Come The Warm Jets," Eno embarked on his one and only solo tour with the Winkies (a glam-ish Pub Rock band) as his backing band, but he suffered from a collapsed lung after only five dates.
It's weird to think of a Pub Rock band backing Eno, but these more direct, rocked out, and non-electronic versions work just fine. A great song in any form is still a great song.

1) Baby's On Fire
2) Totalled (re-worked later as "I'll Come Running")
3) The Paw Paw Negro Blowtorch
4) Fever (Peggy Lee cover)
